Tell me about your regular practice area: Where do you practice and what do you do? What do you love most about your job?

I practice in-house at IQVIA, a global provider of healthcare data technology solutions and clinical trial offerings with over 80,000 employees and 1.2 billion non-identified patient records. I primarily support commercial transactions in the US, providing strategic day-to-day advice to business teams across IQVIA’s commercial service and product offerings. What I love most is being a true partner to the business and applying a keen practical lens to efficiently resolve issues. I also love mentoring our summer interns.

What is your favorite pro bono experience?

The NCPRC’s Driver’s License Restoration Project is always my favorite. Not only do I get to help draft advice letters to NC residents seeking to reinstate their license, but I also get to hang out with my good friend Meghan and laugh at her jokes (even if it’s the 5th time I’ve heard them).

Tell me about your experience with Pro Bono Resource Center projects.

The Pro Bono Resource Center provides a centralized source for all kinds of pro bono opportunities. It has been so helpful to work with the PBRC to host pro bono clinics for IQVIA and other bar organizations, and their monthly Pro Bono Coordinators Network meetings are fantastic for information sharing and collaboration.

How has pro bono volunteerism enriched your career?

Pro bono volunteerism has exposed me to different practice areas and clientele than I would encounter at my day job, expanding my skill set and reminding me of the huge need for legal advice and counsel. It’s a big reality check on your day-to-day complaints when you’re trying to help someone avoid being evicted or assisting a refugee with their asylum application.

Of what moment(s) from your pro bono work are you proudest?

I don’t have a single moment but in general I am proud of putting myself out there to (attempt to) provide pro bono services despite my narrow practice area.

What advice would you give to attorneys who have not yet provided any pro bono service?

Just try it out! If you need help, there are so many folks out there willing and able to guide you through. Pro bono doesn’t always have to be an extended representation; it can be as simple as 30 minutes answering general queries (NC Free Legal Answers) or 3 hours drafting advice letters (Driver’s License Restoration Clinic).
