Pro Bono Volunteer Training: Disaster Housing Issues

October 29, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Currently, there are 31 FEMA disaster-declared counties in North Carolina as a result of Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Through the Disaster Legal Services Hotline (1-833-242-3549) over 150 clients already have been paired with an attorney volunteer for disaster-related legal assistance. The vast majority of Hotline callers have questions and legal needs related to housing issues — landlord/tenant questions, repairs, and initial FEMA or insurance claims.

During this training, pro bono attorney volunteers will learn more about how best to assist Disaster Legal Services Hotline callers with housing-related questions and legal needs. The program speaker is Sarah K. Dixon, Staff Attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina.

There are a limited number of seats for the in-person training. An unlimited number of registrants can participate by webcast (a link to the webcast will be emailed to you upon registration).

This program is brought to you by the NC Bar Foundation, the NC Pro Bono Resource Center, and Legal Aid of North Carolina.
