Project Spotlights

PURSUING JUSTICE THROUGH SERVICE

North Carolina Rule of Professional Conduct 6.1 encourages all North Carolina attorneys to provide at least fifty hours of pro bono legal services each year to those who are unable to pay, without expectation of fee. The North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center is here to help an attorney looking to fulfill this professional responsibility find the best pro bono opportunity for them and to encourage others to do the same.

OUR MISSION:

The North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center harnesses the power of volunteer legal professionals to target unmet legal needs by promoting, supporting, and developing pro bono opportunities.

WHAT WE DO:

CONNECT

The Pro Bono Resource Center is the statewide clearinghouse linking lawyers to meaningful pro bono opportunities.

CONVENE

The Pro Bono Resource Center convenes people and opportunities. Through our NC Pro Bono Coordinator’s Network and meetings with pro bono coordinators at law schools and legal services organizations, the Pro Bono Resource Center is the statewide leader in uniting pro bono opportunities, legal services providers, and the private bar to meet unmet legal needs throughout the state.

CREATE

The Pro Bono Resource Center facilitates the incubation of new and innovative pro bono projects targeting unmet legal needs. Through curated and thoughtful pro bono opportunities, the Pro Bono Resource Center engages and supports the private bar to meet the goal of increasing pro bono participation to help the most vulnerable North Carolinians.

SUPPORT

The Pro Bono Resource Center provides resources, support, and technical assistance and promotes collaboration within the North Carolina legal services community.

RECOGNIZE

The Pro Bono Resource Center recognizes outstanding volunteer lawyers, firms, and others for their dedication to the delivery of pro bono civil legal services to North Carolina’s underserved. Our capstone is the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society, which celebrates outstanding pro bono service and celebrates the importance of attorney volunteerism.
