SUMMARY:Expunctions: Making Second Chances Real
DESCRIPTION:This CLE will enable attorneys to assess a client’s eligibility for relief through expunction and Certificates of Relief (COR)\, advise a client on his or her eligibility\, draft petitions for expunctions/CORs\, and handle in-court hearings. Specific topics covered include: Expunction/Certificate of Relief eligibility\, legislative updates\, best practices for drafting and submitting petitions for expunction/certificates of relief\, and advice for unusual/irregular criminal records. This training will be ideal for legal aid staff attorneys\, attorneys interested in volunteering with Legal Aid of NC on expunction pro bono work\, and attorneys in private practice who assist clients facing collateral consequences of criminal justice system involvement. This CLE is free to all Legal Aid Volunteers\, Legal Aid Employees\, and $75 for everyone else.
