The inability to pay traffic court fees and fines and the license suspensions that result can have dire consequences for drivers and their families. This is particularly true for North Carolinians who are already economically vulnerable and those who live in rural areas without reliable public transportation. Those who continue to drive without a license risk a criminal record and incarceration.<\/p>\n<p>The Driver\u2019s License Restoration Project provides relief to people with these license suspensions through (1) coordinating and supporting District Attorney-led remittance of traffic court fines and fees, and (2) by providing license restoration advice letters prepared by pro bono volunteers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>The Pro Bono Resource Center is seeking a part-time, contract attorney to <u>prepare driver\u2019s license restoration advice letters in Spanish<\/u> for people who have requested an advice letter through ncfairchance.org. The contract attorney will also be responsible for answering questions for Spanish-speaking clients via email and phone. The contract attorney will be supervised by the project\u2019s senior staff attorney and will be provided a letter template for translation. Malpractice coverage will also be provided.\u00a0 Work can be remote with flexible hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must possess:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>North Carolina Bar license.<\/li>\n<li>The ability to communicate effectively in Spanish both orally and in writing with clients and the general public.
